Rev. Arleen’s Story

A Journey of Faith, Service, and Love in Action 

My journey to founding the Living Love Connection Teaching Center began with a desire to help people grow, succeed, and thrive. 

For more than thirty years, I worked in the technology industry, leading teams and overseeing large-scale initiatives across the United States, Canada, Europe, India, and Costa Rica. I was passionate about helping people navigate change, developing their strengths, and discovering what was possible. 

Yet even as I advanced professionally, I sensed a deeper call. 

Throughout my life, I have been drawn to service, community building, and spiritual growth. I witnessed the power of encouragement, compassion, and connection to transform lives, and over time that calling led me more deeply into spiritual study, leadership, and ministry. 

While I continued my spiritual journey, another important teacher entered my life: caregiving. 

Caring for my mother and witnessing the realities encountered by families living with dementia opened my eyes to the challenges and sacred opportunities that caregiving presents. I experienced the uncertainty, exhaustion, grief, and love that so many caregivers carry every day, and I also discovered how often caregivers feel unseen and unsupported. 

Through that experience, I came to understand caregiving as one of the greatest expressions of love in action. 

At the same time, I saw a need for communities where people could find support, connection, education, and hope. I wanted to build spaces where caregivers and families felt welcomed, understood, and empowered. 

That vision helped inspire the Memory Care Café, launched through a partnership among East Bay Church of Religious Science, DayBreak Adult Care Centers, and support from the Stupski Foundation. Watching caregivers and individuals living with memory loss connect, laugh, learn, and support one another confirmed my belief that people heal and thrive in community. 

The success of the Memory Care Café inspired a larger vision. 

I imagined a community where spiritual growth, practical support, compassionate service, and meaningful connection could come together. A place where people might explore their spirituality, face life’s challenges, support one another, and discover new possibilities. 

That vision turned into Living Love Connection Teaching Center. 

Today, my work is guided by a simple belief: 

“Love is more than something we feel. Love is something we do.” 

Through caregiver support, spiritual education, community partnerships, prayer, workshops, or acts of service, Living Love Connection puts that belief into action every day. 

My hope is that everyone who encounters this community feels recognized, valued, supported, and inspired to take part in this voyage toward more fully living love. 

Together, we are creating a world where caring is practiced, connection is cultivated, and love transforms lives.
